What information do you need to get started?
Please provide as much information that is already known, no matter how little. This would include full names, dates and places of events (e.g. births, marriages, deaths). Any family stories that may or may not be true. Instruction of how much research you would like performed.
Do I need to pay to see if full research is possible?
No. I shall always conduct a free initial assessment to ensure full research is possible.
Can you conduct research in any country?
No, I'm afraid not. Even if I was able to access records to certain countries I probably wouldn't be able to read them.
How much information will you be able to discover?
This depends on your ancestors. Just like today, some ancestors were reluctant to provide information to the authorities. Occupations, addresses & family members are almost always discovered.
Does the Root Person have to be myself?
No. The root person (the individual where your research starts) can be any of your ancestors.
Can you research 6 generations from somebody born in the 1890's?
With a 25 year generation gap the 6th generation would be born in the 1760's. This is possible BUT prior to 1837 we are reliant on church records which are not always complete or provide enough information.
How long does the research take to complete?
This would depend on how easy your ancestors are to trace and how much information is dicoverable regarding each. As a guide I estimate:
Acorn Family Tree Package: 1-2 weeks
Sapling Family Tree Package: 2-4 weeks
Oak Family Tree Package: 4-8 weeks
Grand Oak Family Tree Package: 8-12 weeks
I wish to gift a Family Tree package but think I may have left it too late?
Even if there's insufficent time to complete a Family Tree Package as a gift I can still provide relevant results with the promise of 'there's more to come'.
Do I need to pay in advance?
Yes. As your research is bespoke to you I need to request full payment or the 1st instalment before commencing full research. If paying by instalments I shall pause research and request payment when due, recommencing once payment is received.
Can I request updates anytime during the research period?
Yes. Please feel free to contact me anytime once full researched has begun to receive an update.
Are some ancestors never found?
Unfortunately this can be the case.
